Austere Critical Care for Special Operations Medics
This Austere Critical Care for Special Operations Medics course introduces the principles of critical care adapted for Special Operations Forces (SOF) medics operating in austere, remote, and resource-limited environments. Drawing on the foundational modules of the MSc in Austere Critical Care, the programme translates hospital-based critical care concepts into practical frameworks applicable to prolonged field care, remote medical support, and contested operational environments.
A central theme of the programme is adapting organ support principles to environments with limited equipment, personnel, and evacuation options. Learners will examine how clinicians stabilise and support key physiological systems when standard intensive care resources are unavailable. Emphasis is placed on decision-making, prioritisation, and improvisation, enabling medics to bridge the gap between tactical field care and definitive hospital treatment.
Encompassing ten interactive online modules, which is about 50 hours of study time, the course is enriched with additional optional resources and awards
