In the first days of his second term (January 2025), President Trump issued a series of Executive Orders (EOs) focused on eliminating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs and policies. The negative backlash and increased scrutiny on DEI initiatives have led to confusion about what is allowed and uncertainty of how to proceed. This is not only within the federal government but across the private sector, where companies are grappling with the implications these actions have on their organizations. Companies who have closed or scaled back their DEI initiatives have faced criticism, but others who have advocated for business as usual have encountered opposition. The situation continues to be very fluid.
