Introduction and Purpose

This Faculty Development document provides a structured framework to support personal and professional development, ensuring that all faculty members have the resources and opportunities needed to perform at a high level in their roles and develop as academics.

This document outlines key areas of faculty development, each of which is reviewed as part of the annual appraisal process:

Personal Development Plan

This will present targets for the forthcoming year for this employee. These will focus on

Ongoing CPD

Ongoing CPD covering clinical and non-clinical areas of practice will be reviewed at the annual appraisal. There is no minimum requirement here, but ongoing engagement across clinical and non-clinical areas of practice would be expected. Clinical CPD would ideally cover the same scope as the topics taught for the College.

Academic Output Goals

These can be utilised as a PDP goal for staff. Academic Output Goals (AOGs) aim to improve the quality of education provision across all faculties and educational programs within the College. They are applicable to teaching faculty across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. They are a guide for best practice within the College, rather than a strict protocol of requirements. It would be expected that staff could use these are targets to strive for during their time with the College.
