Joining the College

The College of Remote & Offshore Medicine Foundation is an excellent opportunity to discover, develop or re-ignite your passion for austere medicine!

Whatever your background and experience, you can join CoROM in one of the various collegiate membership categories to receive benefits related to College activities.

Current members in good standing are granted the use of “MCoROM” post-nominals.

Membership dues are collected into an account that will be used to provide medical equipment, training, and direct donations to worthy healthcare-related projects located in resource-poor environments.

Current Members can suggest to the Officers where the dues should be spent and for what projects.

Membership Fee: €80 per year

 

 

 

€750 for Lifetime Membership is open to any healthcare professional. If you are interested in becoming a Lifetime Member, please fill in the application form found by clicking the ‘Click here to apply‘ blue button and mention that you are interested in becoming a Lifetime Member.

 

 

We process Membership applications throughout the academic year. We process applications once payment has been sent.

Membership

Individuals with medical training at any level are eligible for Membership status in the College.

  • Member status within the Council of Members
  • Access to the Voluntary Attendance Programme
  • Free access to the virtual Field Guide
  • Free CPD credit for attending the WMS Student Interest Group seminars
  • Free CPD credit for listening to the CoROM podcast each Friday
  • 25% discount for CoROM online CPD courses
  • Temporary use of “MCoROM” post-nominals*

* the College can revoke the use of post-nominals

 

Lifetime Membership

Individuals who are licensed or registered healthcare professionals are eligible for Lifetime Membership status in the College.

  • Officer status within the Council of Members. Officers influence the College in choosing where our donations go each year. Officers also lead the Council of Members.
  • Access to the Voluntary Attendance Programme
  • Free access to the virtual Field Guide
  • Free CPD credit for attending the WMS Student Interest Group seminars
  • Free CPD credit for listening to the CoROM podcast each Friday
  • 25% discount for CoROM online CPD courses
  • Temporary use of “MCoROM” post-nominals*

* the College can revoke the use of post-nominals

Fellowship

Lifetime Members who show a high level of motivation, who benefit the College and who provide good character can be invited to become Fellows of the College “FCoROM”

This is an invitation-only level.

Council of Members

Current Members in good standing are invited to participate with the Council of Members. The CoM is a voluntary group that meet online to discuss current issues within remote and austere medicine, give direction to the Membership programme, provide suggestions on where to spend the Membership dues and provide the College with academic suggestions and support.

Current Lifetime Members are the officers of the CoM and will provide leadership within the Council.

Voluntary Attendance Programme

The Voluntary Attendance Programme (VAP) is open to current Members and Lifetime Members to volunteer to attend any course that has already been attended. They must have a current certificate for that particular course. The Member will help the instructors set up labs and scenarios. They will be able to sit through some of the lessons again. They will be responsible for all travel and accommodation costs.
